SINS OF THE FATHER - INTERVIEW ON NEAR FM
Aug 5th, 2011 by Conor McCabe
I was out in Coolock last week, talking with the great Mick Fitzgerald on Near FM. The interview is about an hour long, and covers not only the book but also Edenmore and Class in Ireland.
This is taken from the Near FM website:
As the nation slouches towards the centenary of the 1916 Rising, one suspects if James Connolly at al had the gift of foresight they would have only gone into the GPO to buy a few stamps rather than “die for the cause of Irish freedom”. Following on from the Cloynes Report into Clerical Sex abuse, any readers of Conor McCabe’s excellent work – Sins of the Father(The History Press Ireland) would be forgiven for concluding that the only freedom won was the freedom to be raped. This book offers many valuable insights into the dangers that can ensue, when trust is misplaced, as exemplified by the economic plight in 2011 of the average Irish citizen.
Conor McCabe joins Michael FitzGerald and Nicholas Jackman formerly news editor of Dundalk Leader, where he shares with listeners how growing up in Edenmore equipped him to be able to lift the veil on the chicanery that masquerades as Irish Economics and Politics.
If you only read one book for the remainder of the year, do yourself a favour and make it Sins of the Father and if you do you won’t get fooled again.
The interview is available here, and as a podcast here.

Great interview, Conor. Started the book last night, read the chapter on housing. Really interesting -and jawdropping- stuff.
thanks Richard.
