RTE, WILL YOU LEARN TO FUCKING READ?
Aug 5th, 2010 by Conor McCabe
The Live Register has increased again.
This is what RTE had to say about it.
“The number of people on the Live Register in July climbed by 8,500 to 452,500. The Central Statistics Office said this was the biggest rise in the seasonally adjusted figure for a year. Women accounted for more than half of the increase. The unadjusted figure showed that there were 466,800 people signing on, an increase of almost 14,000 from June. The CSO said the unemployment rate rose to 13.7%, from 13.4%, in June.
The data also shows that the largest number of people signing on were professionals, who made up more than a fifth.
The next largest increase was in the category of clerical and secretarial workers.”
The Live Register as of July 2010, by broad occupational group. [See here, page 10.)
I believe is what RTE was trying to say. This is the “OMG! The Middle Classes are Getting Fucked in the Ass!” headline.
Meritocracy? Mediocrity.

please report rte to the fuckedcompany.com website if it is still there
The front page of Todays Irish Times has a headline…
“Figures show rise in number of white-collar unemployed”
That and the fact that the Live Register measures underemployment. Nothing like a middle class scare story to fill up August’s airwaves.
Yep. I mean, there has been an increase in the rate of professionals joining the live register, but we won’t get a picture of what jobs are contained in the ‘professionals’ hike until at least the end of September when the Q2 QHS comes out.
TV3 was great last night. It managed to mangle the facts into almost all new signees were women, and almost all were professionals.
Bunch of fucking Ralph Wigums.
