Autobop is remembered now for its bass player and singer, John Byrne, who changed his name to George Byrne and became a music journalist with Hot Press and the Evening Herald.
The excellent IrishRock.org has the following about the band:
This was a guitar quartet from the Crumlin/Dolphin’s Barn area of Dublin. formed by Mick Casey and Damien Callaghan in 1979 [it] became a five-piece in June 1983 with the addition of singer Terry Finnegan.
Secrets/Advertising entered the Irish Charts at #27 for one week in January 1983.
