Something for the Vampire Weekend

Those preppy East Coast college kids are up to speed with this technology thing and are providing an embedded player which allows you to listen to a streamed version of their new album Contrawhich is being released around now in your own blog or whatever.
So, as we have a blog here, I’m embedding it below.
Flippin’ loved the debut, and I like the new album alot - from my first couple of listens this afternoon.
Especially liked Cousins….its a juanty little tune.
(Thanks to Nialler9)

I hadn’t listened to the album since Friday, when I first heard it. Listening to it again now I’m wondering why I have heard people say that its not as good as the first one. I think its better.
And then I went and read the pitchfork review, which brought up all sorts of stuff about where they stand in the firmament of “vanguard indie bands” along side Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors, which reminded me once again that I shouldn’t read Pitchfork reviews.

Yum, I love horchata…
You would…
I think they’ve been obsessing about the clash - taxi driver reminds me a lot of straight to hell - and ‘diplomat’s son’ - who could they mean by that? Joe S?
It’s a grower.
it’s riddled with clash references - a friend who went looking for contra on web found sandinistas! - ‘complete control’ mentioned in ‘I think You’re a contra’. Tis a big lurve letter to clash - so much for pitchfork and their bright young writers.
