Where’s the Irish Charlie Brooker?
Aug 19th, 2009 by Donagh
Dan Hannan is the Tory MEP who talked about the NHS recently on Glen Beck’s show:
This is what Charlie Brooker said about him last night on his brilliant Channel 4 program You Have Been Watching (remember the Taliban Vs The IRA?)
James Delingpole doesn’t think this is funny. I think it’s hilarious.
The same thing needs to be said to all those people who are talking about the necessity of social welfare cuts while also calling for the country to ramp up borrowing to provide a multibillion euro stimulus to the banking sector – a sector that apart from its investment in property is incapable of investing in the Irish economy.

Weird. Instead of appealing to Dan Hannon’s sense of morality and adopting a high moral tone, Charlie Brooker instead just called him a prick.
and not just any old prick. He’s a “boggle-eyed, slap-headed, unpleasant, revolting, heartless, shit-brained, attention-grabbing, foetid excuse for a prick.”
Brooker would never cut it among the Irish liberal left. The prick.
Never watched Brooker before, and would go right out of my way to ever watch him again. Anyone on the left following him is heading for oblivion.
It’s actually a pretty smart show. I like it a lot.
I can’t imagine anyone following Charlie Brooker anywhere. He’s a comedy writer and says things to make people laugh. I’ve been a fan since he started writing his Screenburn TV reviews in the Guide in the Guardian. I love his Screenwipe series on BBC4 especially his Newswipe ones. This one provides a great perspective on how the news reported the credit crunch, for example.

What Donagh said. Plus one.
Co-wrote on Brass Eye and Nathan Barley too, don’t think anyone can argue with that. No sir.
And I forgot to mention that he also wrote the best revenge against Big Brother by writing Dead Set.
Oh, I’m delighted to have just found out, while looking for that Dead Set link, that Big Brother has been axed by Channel 4 today.
