Cheers Sonofstan. We're getting all this stuff about how the Irish have to tighten their belts, but we're never told how 50% of the working population are supposed to buy a house and raise a family - with all the privatized costs of health, housing, education, child-minding - with jobs paying €340 to €560 per week. Mortgage repayments alone on an average house these days are, what, €250 to €400 per week? And that's just housing.

Great stuff, Conor.

it seem that 20th/21st century Ireland has evolved a counter poor-mouth syndrome - instead of going on about how downtrodden and skint we are, we all pretend to me much better off than is in fact the case, both personally and nationally.
