IT’S ALL FUN AND GAMES UNTIL SOMEONE LOSES A REFERENDUM
Jun 14th, 2008 by Conor McCabe
According to news reports, the EU wants to forge ahead with the Lisbon treaty, even though we were told that a no vote meant the end of it.
So, looks like the EU lied to us about the treaty having to be ratified by all member states. At least we know that if we had voted yes, there would have been no need for the EU to lie to us, so really it’s because of us that they have to lie. Our fault. A yes vote and the EU would have played by the rules.
Also, the EU commission president, Jose Manuel Barroso, has made it known that he wants to hear from Brian Cowen why Ireland voted no, and what Cowen expects Europe to do next.
I doubt if there’ll be any footage of the meeting, but I’m going to hazard a guess that it might be something like this.
Enjoy.
